Facile and scalable preparation of ZIF-67 decorated cotton fibers as recoverable and efficient adsorbents for removal of malachite green

Abstract Recently, metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have received considerable attention as highly efficient adsorbents for dye wastewater remediation. However, the immobilization of MOFs on substrate surfaces to fabricate easy recyclable via a facile route is still challenge. In this work, ZIF-67/cotton fibers removal were prepared in large-scale using simple coordination replication method. The successful fabrication was confirmed by FTIR, XRD, XPS, SEM and BET analysis, respectively. As expected, as-prepared exhibited high adsorption capacity 3787 mg/g towards malachite green (MG). Meanwhile, kinetics isotherm obeyed pseudo-second-order Langmuir model, Moreover, its efficiency MG not significantly influenced pH ionic strength aqueous solution. Most importantly, can remove from synthetic effluents, it be easily regenerated without filtration or centrifugation processes, with regeneration remaining over 90% even after 10 cycles. Additionally, presented excellent antimicrobial performance against E. coli S. aureus . Hence, distinctive features make promisingly applicable colored treatment.
